Like water torture it’s been driving me insane.
Three different Trans pan gaskets, two helicoils and four attempts to stop this leak.
I forgot the advice I usually give new Harley owners. That leak isn’t coming from where you think it is.
It’s not the Trans pan dummy. It’s leaking from the Transfer Case adapter. It just looks like the pan is leaking..
It’s a damn good thing that this truck is insanely comfortable and reliable. Any of my past rides would have been sold off at a loss out of spite by now.

I used to have a similar issue on my old MX5. The cam cover used to leak, so I replaced the gasket, in the wind and rain so rushed it but used gasket sealant too. I snapped a bolt because they were made of cheese. It leaked again after a few days.
I tried again a few weeks later, same gasket. Extracted the broken bolt, replaced it. Noticed I stretch a few, snapped another. Fixed that, put it all back together.
LEAKED AGAIN.
Tried again, replaced all bolts. Meticulously cleaned both surfaces. Torqued to the correct spec. Perfect.
Sold the car six months later. Leaked again.
Fuck cars.

Our Sable had a self-changing oil feature. That is to say, the pan gasket had disintegrated and it just pissed while sitting.

Man, I feel your pain. [bang-head-against-wall.gif]
So should I buy stocks in cardboard? Or Mercon V?

Ford? In my experience Fords hold their fluids as well as a bucket made of swiss cheese. Know leaks on my Ranger
-Trans pan, started leaking after replacing trans last year. New gasket and clean surfaces then.
-Oil pan
-Valve covers
-Front main seal
-Possible rear main
-Differential seeps a bit
Most of them I need to remove the motor to fix. It works out pretty well though, it gets a quart low on oil at almost exactly 4000 miles between oil changes. It’s like a manual oil life reminder.
